ABOUT ME!
I am currently a senior at Walter B. High School in Philadelphia, PA. Since attending Saul High School I have made the honor roll each marking period and I was inducted into the National Honor’s Society during my sophomore year. I was selected to become a Junior Ambassador at the Philadelphia Zoo in 2011 after successfully auditioning before a panel of my peers and employees of the Zoo. I started my own floral business in 9th grade because I enjoy brining smiles to the faces of any and everyone through floral design!
During my 10th grade year at Saul High School I began working on my first science experiment. Based on my dedication and hard work I won the city and state Agriculture Science Fair for the FFA in Harrisburg, PA and at the main campus of Penn State University under the division of Botany. The title of my first science experiment was “Can You Make and Use a Natural Dye from Pokeweed”? In August of 2012 I was selected to
attend and participate in the National’s at Indianapolis, Indiana where I won Sliver. I was the FIRST student in the history of Saul to be selected to attend National’s under the Agriculture division. In January of 2013 I entered the Agriculture Science Fair again and the title of my project is “Do Flowers Yield to Positive Human Emotions”. I won regionals and the state competition for my 2nd science experiment during my 11th grade year.
My third science experiment is “Are you ready to kiss your Citrus Goodbye”?
I am the President of Engineer without Boarders which is an afterschool program at Saul and I am the Vice President of the FFA Advisory.
I have a standing offer to teach children about botany, horticulture and landscaping after school every third Wednesday when called upon at the Oak Lane Library in Philadelphia. I was selected to attend two students conference which were ACES, and F.A.C.E. The F.A.C.E. student conference was held at Bucknell University for a week and I had the pleasure of staying on campus. For Saul High School I was the first student to win the Proficiency Award at Penn State University in 2013 which yielded 5 plaques. The plaques represented my dedication for my floral business, 2 science experiments,
my volunteer work at the Philadelphia Zoo, and my volunteer work at the Philadelphia Library. On Academy of Natural Sciences/Drexel University as a panelist for conservation, and I represented my Agriculture teacher Mrs. Naugle when she was honored by the Philadelphia Zoo. I was invited
to meet Mayor Michael Nutter on December 21, 2012 because of my accomplishments.
I am very eager to begin the next journey in my life by attending a four year college to study horticulture. Because I had the pleasure of attending a few colleges my expectations are to take off running once I am enrolled. I have earned my Green Hand Degree, Chapter Degree and Keystone Degree. I understand sacrifice, dedication and hard work will give birth to my dreams. That is to become a horticulturist. The horticulture career I will gain will require an understanding of both science and business. Opportunities in the horticulture industry are plentiful; but to be successful, a person must possess technical and personal skills. During my college years I would like to achieve an unlimited amount of knowledge with technical skills, including plant care, mechanics, and production.
I WANT TO PERSONALLY THANK EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
